# Token Goblin product guide

Token Goblin turns unavoidable developer waiting time into a tiny prediction game in the Mac menu bar. It is designed for AI coding agent runs, Xcode builds, test suites, terminal commands, exports, and other short tasks where the user is waiting for an outcome.

## How it works

1. Start a run and choose a runner such as Codex, Xcode, Terminal, or another tool.
2. Set an estimate and predict an outcome using fictional Goblin points.
3. Finish the run and provide the actual timing and result metrics.
4. Token Goblin settles the prediction, updates the local point balance, and creates a receipt.

Available predictions include finishing under estimate, running overtime, passing cleanly, asking for permission, touching ten or more files, and breaking tests.

## Mac integration

Token Goblin is a native macOS app built for menu-bar-first use. A full dashboard provides onboarding, run history, achievements, and settings. Runs can be managed manually, through the tokengoblin URL scheme, or with the bundled goblin command-line tool.

The CLI can wrap a command while preserving its terminal output and exit status. Token Goblin receives only explicitly supplied run details and settlement metrics; it does not collect command output, code, prompts, repositories, or file paths.

## Privacy

Token Goblin requires no account and includes no advertising, product analytics, crash-reporting SDK, or cross-app tracking. Fake-point balance, preferences, active run, history, achievements, and access state are stored locally. Shared receipts hide task titles by default.

Apple's StoreKit service is used to load localized purchase information and verify or restore the lifetime unlock. Apple processes payment credentials.

## Access

Every feature is available during a seven-day full-access trial. After the trial, a one-time lifetime purchase can unlock the app permanently. There is no subscription. The current localized price is shown by Apple in the Mac App Store and is intentionally not hardcoded on this website.
